Silicon Valley back

Posted by bert5 on 29 January 2007

Permalink  Looks like solar power is gaining traction in the valley, and the valley is getting back on it’s feet after the popped bubble knocked it down hard.

Sad, but true shopping habits at Costco

Posted by bert5 on 29 January 2007

Permalink NYTimes article on the psychology of shopping Costco. I found it interesting that Costco benefits from the idea that particular items come and go from stock and so people feel like they need to buy it right there and then.  Also, Costco mainly makes money from it’s $50 annual memberships.

Male or female brain and gay-o-meter

Posted by bert5 on 5 January 2007

BBC has a survey which ascertains whether you have a male or female brain. My result was male, but on the low end — I was too fair (unaggressive) in the splitting money task among other things.

Also, British Channel 4 (isn’t that BBC also?) has a gay-o-meter to measure how gay you are. I measured just 50% gay.
