He spoke at Stanford about how buildings create a large percentage of CO2 emissions as well as an interesting building in Norway where no one has a permanent office. People can work from home or come in. There are less workspaces than employees. There are no partitions. They believe this flexibility has resulted in greater productivity. For Boeing in Seattle, much of the improved relations between unionized blue collar workers and white-collar engineers and executives as well as improvements to 737 jet factory efficiency is attributed to the NBBJ redesign. NBBJ is designing a teaching center near the medical center at Stanford.
